On November 4–5, the kick-off meeting for ACHILLES took place at the headquarters of Fraunhofer Portugal in Porto. This groundbreaking European project aims to revolutionize the future of Artificial Intelligence (AI) by addressing its “Achilles’ heel”: efficiency and trust.
With over €8 million in funding under the Horizon Europe Framework Programme, ACHILLES brings together a consortium of 16 leading organizations from across Europe to develop innovative solutions for creating lighter, clearer, and safer AI technologies.
During the inaugural meeting, project partners outlined the strategic roadmap, setting priorities to tackle key challenges in the AI landscape. The discussions focused on ensuring AI systems are not only more efficient and transparent but also capable of earning trust in ethical, social, and economic dimensions.
As the project coordinator, Fraunhofer Portugal hosted the event in the vibrant city of Porto, providing an ideal environment for fostering collaboration and strengthening the consortium’s international network.
